FREE SWIMMING

NOW YOU CAN SPLASH WITH NO CASH!

Great news – the Government is running a free swimming programme over the next two years for anyone under 16 and over 60 around Coventry!

The ‘Splash with no cash’ campaign is part of a £140 million package to encourage local Councils to offer free swimming for over 60s and under 16s in their communities. It will run from April 2009 to March 2011 and is all part of the Governments plan to get two million people more active before the 2012 Olympics and lots of Councils around the West Midlands have signed up, including Coventry City Council!

Splash with no cash venues:

  • Caludon Castle Leisure Centre
  • Coventry Sports and Leisure Centre
  • Ernesford Grange Community School
  • Foleshill Sports and Leisure Centre
  • Foxford Leisure Centre
  • Lyng Hall School
  • President Kennedy
  • Community School
  • Tile Hill Wood School and
  • Language College
  • Xcel Leisure Centre

What does this mean?
This means that if you are over the age of 60 or under the age of 16 you can take part in the free swimming programmes in certain Leisure Operators in Coventry. If you qualify for the free swimming programme you must have two cards:
1. A valid membership card for the Leisure Provider that operates the facility you wish to swim at.
2. A Free Swimming Membership card (you need to fill in the application and take it to any of the venues listed with proof of age).

WHEN C AN I SWIM?
Free swim sessions will only take place during ‘public swim sessions’ subject to local arrangements and local rules – please note public swim sessions vary from pool to pool and you are advised to check pool timetables beforehand.
