Young Advisors are:

  • Young people aged between 15 and 21
  • They are young people who show community leaders and decision makers how to engage young people in community life, regeneration and renewal.

Role of Young Advisors

What we can do for you

  • Youth proofing
  • Youth engagement workshops
  • Consultation

Youth Proofing
We can youth proof documents for you to take them more accessible, not just to young people, but to everyone.

Youth engagement workshops
We can show you how to engage young people effectively in a workshop from 45 minutes to 2 hours long.

Consultation
We can be consulted on any new or existing strategies, policies or whatever we need to, to make sure young peoples views are considered in the making of them.

What we have done so far
Since completing our training we have:

  • Youth-proofed our NDC’s Teenage Pregnancy Strategy.
  • Helped to set up and run a Youth Environmental Group.
  • Been consulted on the National Anti-Social Behaviour Strategy in London.

The young advisors went on a brilliant residential to Brathay in the Lake District in Aug 2008 which saw them work together as a team to understand better their role as consultants. Two new young advisors joined the team Tracy Riley and James Dakin. The residential really helped the young advisors to look at how they tackle problems, plan their work and support each other to deliver on objectives they have been set.
