WEHM Buyback Project

  • About Project

Name: WEHM Buyback Project

Start date: 2007/08

End date: 2007/08

Project Lead: Kevin Roach

Lead Organisation: Whitefriars Housing Group

Project description / summary:  The primary aim of the project is to significantly improve the quality of life for 6 homeowners and reduce, if not eradicate, the community safety risk to the homeowners and the community as a whole that empty homes are susceptible to, such as vandalism, break-ins and potential arson attacks. This would be done by purchasing the 6 isolated homes that are in the redevelopment area, homes that the owners are not able to sell. These properties would then be stripped of heating systems etc that may attract vandals and burglars and secured to a high standard. When the developers, require the properties for demolition before new building takes place, the developers will buy the properties back from Moathouse Community Trust.

Funds Granted: £600,000
