Manor Farm residents association have been actively pursuing play provision in their local area. Sites are being investigated and a play company is drawing up designs. Luscombe Fields -This area of land initially had question marks surrounding it and was earmarked for development, but passionate residents have fought to keep it as a community resource. Rich in wildlife and plant diversity, there is potential to enhance the area for community benefit. Moat House Park -NDC are leading a bid to Waste Recycling and Environmental Groups Communities Challenge for up to £250,000 of match funding for play provision in the WEHM area. In collaboration with Coventry City Council parks and leisure department a bid is being developed which we hope could kick-start the provision of play in the area. NDC have recently been advised that this bid has passed the first stage and we will hear whether we have been successful at the second stage in October.
If successful the monies would be awarded in January 2009 Highways and Parking -With the development of the Leisure and Neighbourhood Centre and the imminent start of housing redevelopment work, resident concerns are growing about the volume of traffic into the area. Deedmore Road corridor is being looked at through the Regeneration Action Team with a view to looking towards a long term solution which could include off-road parking. River Sowe -Warwickshire Wildlife Trust are leading a bid to the 'Access to Nature' fund to enhance a stretch of the River Sowe. The river runs down the west side of the WEHM area and could benefit greatly from an injection of cash. Proposals to improve the river corridor include works to clean debris and make the river more accessible.
