End date: 2010/11

Project Lead: Stinder Johl/Lucy Hobbs

Lead Organisation: Coventry NDC

Project description / summary:  Work is continuing upon the Leisure and Neighbourhood Centre. The centre will provide a hub of services for local residents to access including NDC, Neighbourhood Management and Social Services.  Residents will be able to use the facilities to hold meetings and undertake life long learning.  It will also accommodate a fitness centre for residents to be able to improve their wellbeing.  The invitation to tender was issued to 6 Contractors in early February 2007 and the successful Contractor (Miller) appointed in March 2007. Initial work on site commenced in late Autumn 07 with the removal of trees, shrubs and street furniture. Newt trapping was then undertaken, as was the enhancement of a public footpath. Millers formally started the contract on 14th January 2008 and the build programme is for 49 weeks with a date of 19th December 2008 for practical completion. This project was successful in obtaining almost £1M of additional funding from other sources.
