BELL GREEN LITTER PICK

Bell Green Street Champions and their younger counterparts, Junior Street Champions, joined forces again to tackle some of the rubbish hotspots in their area recently.

The older and younger members met over two days during the Easter break to clean up rubbish and plant new trees before the opening of the new Bell green play area. at the end of the first day the street champions collected over 12 bags of assorted litter before going on to plant over 100 trees around the play area!

Following a talk from Warwickshire Wildlife trust about species that live in rivers like otters and water voles, the champions then created sculptures of these mammals out of wire mesh and plaster.
Junior members also designed and created leaf and butterfly bunting, posters and invitations for the official opening.

“The two days have been a great success and thank you to everyone who took part. the area looks brilliant!” said carol speed, neighbourhood development Officer.

The groups were supported by Coventry City Council, Warwickshire Wildlife Trust, the Family Project and Whitefriars housing group.

For more information about the Bell Green Play Area, contact Carol Speed – Neighbourhood Development Officer or Joanne Payne - Neighbourhood Support Officer Neighbourhood Management NE. Tel 024 7678 5910.
