The Housing, Environment and Transport Theme Objectives are to:
- Deliver major housing and environmental improvements in the area to create a place that people will choose to live in sufficient numbers, making it a sustainable community. This will be achieved through a major redevelopment of the area funded through increased land values, which will also result in major improvements to the large amounts of green space in the area.
- Produce major improvements to the management of the environment, through working with partners and funding projects.
The key achievements over the past year have been: -
- Onsite work with the Leisure & Neighbourhood Centre – Millers Construction started on site January 2008 with a program of works for 49 weeks with an estimate completion date of December 2008.
- Formal signing of the legal documents for the Master Development Agreement securing £350m investment in the NDC area.
The Environmental Management project has funded approx 10 schemes to help the community. Some of these schemes include: -
- Mature tree planting around the NDC area
- Greenspace enhancement outside Hillmorton Road shops
- Major landscaping schemes – Chippy Fields (Wood End), Amphitheatre (Manor Farm) amongst others
- 4 new football pitches
- Cleaning of Moat House Pond
