Environment (Housing / Environment / Transport)
back

The Housing, Environment and Transport Theme Objectives are to:

  • Deliver major housing and environmental improvements in the area to create a place that people will choose to live in sufficient numbers, making it a sustainable community.  This will be achieved through a major redevelopment of the area funded through increased land values, which will also result in major improvements to the large amounts of green space in the area.
  • Produce major improvements to the management of the environment, through working with partners and funding projects.

The key achievements over the past year have been: -

  • Onsite work with the Leisure & Neighbourhood Centre – Millers Construction started on site January 2008 with a program of works for 49 weeks with an estimate completion date of December 2008.
  • Formal signing of the legal documents for the Master Development Agreement securing £350m investment in the NDC area.

The Environmental Management project has funded approx 10 schemes to help the community. Some of these schemes include: -

  • Mature tree planting around the NDC area
  • Greenspace enhancement outside Hillmorton Road shops
  • Major landscaping schemes – Chippy Fields (Wood End), Amphitheatre (Manor Farm) amongst others
  • 4 new football pitches
  • Cleaning of Moat House Pond
