Drugs

Do you have concerns about drugs in your community?

The use of illicit drugs in the NDC area has been a significant issue when looking at crime.  In 2000 national research on all individuals arrested for crimes found that 70% tested positive for some kind of illegal drug.  This indicated the strong link between drugs and crime.

Illegal drugs and alcohol are major causes of harm - both to individuals using drugs or drinking and the wider community that suffers heightened levels of crime or anti social behaviour.

The Government 10 year national drug strategy outlines the approach taken to reduce the harm caused by drugs across England and Wales.
