RESIDENTS GET INVOLVED IN CRIME COMMUNITY AGREEMENT

As part of the succession agenda Coventry NDC has been focusing on developing community agreements to ensure service standards in the NDC area are maintained post 2011.

These community agreements will detail the commitments made by key service providers in health, community safety, environment and employment in the WEHM area. NDC's first community agreement is on Crime and Community Safety and local residents have already been getting involved to determine what their agreement will cover.

Karen Buttle, Neighbourhood Services Manager said: "In our first meeting we invited local residents to look at what agreements are, what they can achieve and the work needed to get an agreement in place.

"The session went extremely well and residents are keen to stay involved. We will continue to meet on a regular basis and are also planning a trip to Barnsley to learn about an existing neighbourhood agreement.

"Residents who do attend are encouraged to bring along a friend as there is still a lot of work to be done to get this first community agreement completed.

For more information on NDC's Crime and Community Safety Agreement please contact Karen Buttle on 024 7662 2964 or email karen.buttle@coventryndc-wehm.org.uk

Residents Column by Alan Tyrrell

Greetings readers,
The Resident’s Association has been very busy over the last few weeks and I’d like to use this opportunity to pass on some important messages.

The Resident Association is holding weekly car boot sales on a Saturday at the community centre for the foreseeable future. We held our first one on the 16 May and it was a real success. Gates open for car booters at 7.30am to set up and public access begins at 8am – 12pm. Tables are available for hire for £2, whereas a car will cost £5. And, if the weather is poor, we can use the centre hall when it is free. It would be great for you to support this community activity and you can visit the community centre or call them on 7661 8770 if you'd like more information.

If there is something you would like us to run for the Henley Green residents then I'd love to hear from you. Contact Henley Green Community Centre on 024 7661 8770 or you can get hold of me through the Your Shout magazine – call Diana on 024 7662 2964.

Henley Green Residents Association meetings are changing. Meetings will now be held on the first Thursday of each month starting with the next meeting which will be on 4th June. The venue also changes to the Henley Green Community Centre at 7pm.

And finally, Henley Green Residents Association are pleased to announce that the £25,000 legal costs incurred whilst fighting to keep our village green has now been paid off! This is a massive achievement and would like to thank all the members and residents that have made this possible.

Wishing you all the best,
Alan Tyrrell
